Cairngorms National Park, Highlands - Information and History about Cairngorms
The cairngorms, although exceeded by Ben Nevis, are the highest mass of mountains in Britain. Around 300 square miles of spectacular sub-arctic flora and fauna hosts this playground for enthusiasts and professionals of winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding. The openning of the funicular railway and various lifts and tows has made this even more popular. There are 4 mountains that can be found within the range with summits over 4000ft. Accomodation and a vast array of facilities can be found in nearby Aviemore.
