Dingwall, Ross-shire, Highlands - Information and History about Dingwall
The alleged birthplace of Macbeth, this county town is built where the river Peffer flows to the Cromarty Firth. There is sadly no remains left of the castle which once stood in Dingwall or the harbour which was a key part of the town in recent years. Dingwall railway station serves the Kyle of Lochalsh line after re-openning recently. Ross County FC play in Dingwall and are in the Scottish 2nd devision. Education institutes include the Highland Theological College for the training of ministers ran by the University of the Highlands and Islands. Dingwall boasts a wide range of services including shops, restaurants, hotels and bars.
